May 2016 RCG Minutes
FROM THE FIRST RESIDENTS’ COMMUNITY GROUP MEETING
Discussions continue with Coburg community
Monday 30th May marked the first official meeting of the Pentridge Residents Community Group (RCG).
While there has been previous community consultation prior to the finalisation of the Masterplan, this meeting commenced an open platform for ongoing communication with the local Coburg community.
Three community members attended the meeting, as well as three representatives from Shayher Group, two facilitators and a representative of Particular Architects.
The points discussed in this first meeting included:
- The role and responsibility of Council, State government, National heritage values and heritage retention.
- Community concern around pedestrians, cyclists and delivery access points in Champ Street (with potential damage made to the external walls)
- Affordability, size, parking and environmental credentials of the planned Air apartments.
- Discussion around ‘green spaces’ within the Pentridge site and overall clarification on the number of concrete buildings and roads proposed within the space.
Many of the concerns raised by the community members were addressed in the meeting, with other concerns taken on notice to be addressed at future RCG meetings.
It is the objective of Shayher Group to manage the site’s developmental progress with the utmost respect for the site and its heritage aspects while evolving the area into a community space that has purpose and function.
Further RCG meetings are planned in the future with a view to ensuring the discussions are diverse and all community perspectives are addressed.
For the opportunity to be included in future meetings, or to raise concerns you may have regarding the Pentridge development, please email Pentridge@shayher.com.au.
