When will Pentridge be completed?
We are currently anticipating that Pentridge, including all residential buildings, will be finished by 2028.
Are the heritage buildings being preserved?
Yes. Shayher Group has committed to the preservation and restoration of key buildings including the Guard Towers, B Division, A and H Division under the guidance of a Conversation Management Plan and Heritage Victoria. Restoration work is proceeding in tandem with new development, and their use informed by a Heritage Interpretation Masterplan.
When will the shopping centre precinct be finished?
Construction will be completed in 2020.
When will I be able to visit Pentridge and the Piazza?
The Piazza, our main public space, is currently under construction and is expected to be finished in 2020. We are presently in the process of tenanting some of the heritage buildings that front the Piazza with fabulous dining options for you to enjoy.
How can I get to the shopping centre and Piazza once they are open?
Once Pentridge is reopened to the public, vehicles will be able to enter the site from the north and Murray Road (via Stockade Avenue), they will also be able to enter from the south and Pentridge Boulevard along Whatmore Drive (a two-way thoroughfare). Pedestrians can enter via Success Lane from Champ Street, Sentry Lane or Wardens Walk.
Visitors to the shopping centre and Piazza may also utilise nearby public transport links, with train stations and tram stops just a short stroll from Pentridge.
Will there be additional parking?
Once open, over 450 carparks over three levels of underground car parking will be available under the shopping centre.
Are there public transport options nearby, and how long does it take to get into the city?
Yes, there are many convenient transport links nearby. Batman and Coburg train stations are an easy 10 minute walk from Pentridge Coburg and will only take you 25 minutes to get to the city. There is also a tram stop right outside Pentridge on the corner of Sydney Road and Champ Street, with the Number 19 tram providing a direct 30 minute service into Melbourne CBD.
