May at Pentridge: What’s On

30th April 2021At Pentridge

With winter fast approaching, make the most of May at Pentridge! May brings with it Mother’s Day and we’ve got just the thing in store for good ol’ Mum. From a scrumptious high tea to a Mother’s Day competition, there are quite a few ways to surprise her with something nice at Pentridge. You can’t go wrong with a massage at Tao Massage or a treatment at Lux Hair!

But first, a quick look at what happened in April at Pentridge:

Recap of April

Saturdays in April

Every Saturday through April, from 2:30pm, the piazza and shopping centre saw live entertainment, workshops and a Palace Pop-Up Bar full of drinks and snacks. We saw plenty of locals come by and visit each Saturday! There was an Easter Egg Hunt, craft workshops for the kids, a floral bouquet workshop and even a silent disco!

Yoga at Pentridge

When Carolyn Wray offered to teach a yoga class tailored for parents and their kids, we couldn’t say no! The classes were held within the Pentridge Shopping Centre.

Palace Cinema Events

The Moro Spanish Film Festival featured several dramas, romances, thrillers and major box-office hit comedies from across Spain, plus a selection of gems from Latin America. It continues till 9th May, so there’s still time to catch a few films! Palace also hosted Babes In Arms which offered parents a chance to catch a film with their little ones. There were also special screenings of The United States Vs. Billie Holiday, the documentary This Is Port Adelaide and First Cow.

What’s On In May

Pentridge Arts

As a heritage landmark, Pentridge’s past has cultural significance, much of which has guided its revival as a cultural destination and meeting place. As part of this revival, a space was curated for the arts community under the brand-new ‘Pentridge Arts’.

Pentridge Arts will be opening two unique spaces; Pentridge Studios and Divisions Gallery. To celebrate this launch, Pentridge Arts presents Al Stark’s ‘The Genius of Forgetting’ at the Divisions Gallery opening on Friday, 14th May at 6:00pm.

Mother’s Day Competition

In collaboration with Essendon MINI Garage, Pentridge is hosting a MINI competition! Whisk mum away, with a chance to win a MINI for a weekend, along with a collection of covetable MINI lifestyle products, collectively worth $1500. Screening additional productions from neighbouring German-speaking countries, the festival showcases the creativity and diversity of the region.

Presented by cultural partner the Goethe-Institut, the festival includes the sidebar “Kino for Kids”, a curated program dedicated to young audiences and families. This section invites schools to attend the festival to engage with German culture and learn the language.
